Every DJ who hopes to get booked, and thus promoted, needs a small collection of quality photographs. Let me say that again…quality photographs. These are not the snap shots taken of you at previous gigs. I’m talking about professional high resolution photos taken in a studio with a professional photographer with wardrobe changes, backdrops…the works. You may do a shoot and take over 300 shots only to come out with 7 or 8 photos that really work. Put in the time and invest in a photographer. Let them make you look good! You’ll be surprised how much of an impacts good photos can have on your career. Put them on you website(s) and in your media kit.
Sometimes it’s all about image. If you want to be taken seriously and to be treated like the rock star I know you are inside then you have to look the part. A shoot like this can run anywhere from $100 – $500 depending on the photographer. You may find a newbie coming up that is trying to expand their portfolio and will hook you up but don’t expect it. And remember the one lesson that most us are never able to fully learn….you get what you pay for.
